Finding The Lion Within

Do you feel like you’re hiding behind this mask that everyone else wants you to wear? Suffocating and trapped behind this fake identity.

I hear you. I know how you feel because I too felt the same way for many years, until one day, I finally found my voice, my lion within.

You know, we spend our whole lives looking to find who we truly are, losing sight of our true self, our authenticity, because we are too busy being who everyone else wants us to be. And because we’re too busy being who everyone else wants us to be, we start to doubt ourselves. Our thoughts. Our dreams.

Quietly asking the question, ‘’Should I say what I feel, or should I just shut up and keep quiet’’

Why is it that we must conform to be accepted? To fit in. Feeling what others want us to feel instead of allowing ourselves to feel what we want to feel. To just BE. Why must we feel guilty about the choices we make. The decisions. The thoughts. The dreams.  Why is it that we must live a lie?

For years I have wanted to write a book. And in October 2018, I finally found the courage to publish the 1st Edition of Finding the Lion Within, Breaking Free, My journey of Self Discovery.  This is the updated version. It’s mind-blowing how much we grow as individuals when we allow ourselves the space to discover who we truly are. And be cool with it.

I see potential in every human being I meet, and I genuinely believe that we are not fully formed, rather, we are all a work in progress. There is potential in each one of us to learn and grow even more.

FINDING THE LION WITHIN is a way for me to share with you what I’ve learned about myself and others over the years.  Human behavior is something I’ve always had an interest in and so I wrote this book in a way that’s simple to read. No need to hide behind big words. Real and raw. As simple as that. In this book, I say what I mean, and I mean what I say.

I share with you the strategies I used to help me become the person I am today.

I share with you what I did to help me let go of my limiting beliefs, my self-doubt and build my self-confidence.

I share with you how I created new beliefs for myself that helped me get through the toughest, loneliest times in my life.

I originally wrote this book for 3 Reasons:

  1. To prove to myself that I can.
  2. To inspire others to do the same because we all have a story to share. And with every story, there is a lesson to be learned.
  3. To leave a legacy for my children, my grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. (when they get here.)

Don’t hold back. Be proud of who you are. Be proud of what you stand for. Your story matters because It may be the story that helps someone who has been on a similar path to you.  We can’t be everything to everyone, but, if it’s one thing I know for sure is that we can all help someone through our own experiences.  And remember this, that ‘’Your past does not equal your future’’.

Reviews

Alexandra Egan (Author) “Cracking the Code – Understanding Self and Others” has a unique and extensive career working with organisations and people from all walks of life, including Federal and State Governments, the criminal justice system and various other social justice roles.

In 2008 I had the pleasure to work with Alexandra, as major stakeholders to establish a pre and post-release employment project in the Criminal Justice System. The model combined structured workplace learning and work-readiness programs. However, establishing relationships and connecting participants with major employment and industry stakeholders was a key strategy to improve employment outcomes for ex-offenders.

At the time Alexandra was working as a Prison Liaison Officer for The Department of Human Services (Centrelink). Her passion to create environments where people flourished and her ability to engage with others soon became apparent. Our strong partnership became a significant component for the success of the project. Through this involvement, numerous gaps, that overlooked the diverse issues facing this cohort, were identified, particularly as ex-offender transitioned to release and struggled to navigate their employment network obligations. Initially, Alexandra acknowledged the need to address these concerns, at a local level, recommending procedural changes and implementing strategies for change. Alexandra soon establish an affiliation with managers, industry, stakeholders and participants and included everyone in the consultation process. As a result Alexandra successfully developed and launched a local justice reference group to enhance service coordination, improve participant’s well-being pre and post-release to the community and ultimately enhance community safety. These initiatives were adopted and later rolled out nationally.

Following on from her success in the criminal justice system, Alexandra graduated from The Coaching Institute Melbourne and in 2015 founded and owner of her innovative business; Domino Effect Consulting and Facilitating. Alexandra is a lifelong learner – she is a certified Meta Practioner, accredited behavioural profiler, mindset strategist and behavioural coach. I can speak first hand for Alexandra’s impressive background working with community diversity, as well as her outstanding ability to work with individuals, businesses and organisations to build effective, efficient, productive, high performing individuals and teams.

It is a great privilege to endorse Alexandra’s latest publication “Cracking the Code – Understanding Self and Others” it is inspirational and gives you an understanding how to build rapport, effectively communicate, connect and influence others. Alexandra has significant experience, and an abundance of knowledge acquired through her unique career spanning some 30 years.  This book shares this information and will offer many tips and tricks, and understanding of self and others and why people do what they do.
